Dedicated to change.
Kathryn McDaniel Lewis, age 27, a Halifax County native, announced that she will run for the United States Congress to represent the Sixth District of Virginia. Mrs. Lewis feels compelled to serve her community by addressing the region’s economic and educational needs, and working with citizens to create solutions that help them. Mrs. Lewis is a graduate of Lynchburg College and has owned Polished to Perfection, an award-winning cleaning business, for the past three years. She was also the youngest alumna to be elected to the Lynchburg College Alumni Board. She and her husband currently reside in Bedford County.
Her values include integrity, accountability, compassion, and a desire to serve the people of the Sixth District. Mrs. Lewis plans to emphasize public listening sessions during the campaign to truly find out what the people of the district need and expect from their representative. This practice would be a cornerstone of her leadership style once elected. She wants everyone’s voices to be heard and respected including those of women and minorities. Raised locally, she understands the importance of addressing the challenges that local citizens face in their daily efforts to provide safe, healthy lives for their families

Small Business Growth
Small business is a passion for Mrs. Lewis and, as an entrepreneur, she understands the needs of local business owners. Her experience ensures that she will fight for lower taxes and limited regulations for all business owners. Raised in Halifax County, Lewis is intimately familiar with these challenges that she and her fellow residents face.
Education and Financial Stability
Mrs. Lewis’s advocacy for educational opportunity is a value she learned from her parents, who both worked for the local community college and other educational roles. She said that “a skilled and trained work force is vital to the stability and development of a strong community.” Her advocacy includes plans to provide additional resources for this region’s biggest economic engine, including vocational training, community colleges, and universities. She will make education and job training a top priority.
Kathryn McDaniel Lewis is the candidate for the sixth district. She grew up here, is building her family here, and hopes to be the first woman to serve the community in this position. She will lead with a common sense approach and will not simply act along political party lines but actually consider the needs of her district, unlike so many career politicians.
